If not to much consideration was taken, it would be easy to say, buy a used embroidery machine like a Tajima, Brother, Barudan, Melco, Happy, or SWF embroidery machine because it will definitely cost less than a new one. Or, another train of thought on buying new versus used embroidery machines may be the simple fact you want to start with new embroidery equipment so that you don't have to worry about how the previous machine was maintained? Did it get oiled properly, kept clean, and in tune? The following offers a little insight into the New Versus Used Embroidery Machine debate.

NEW MACHINES:
Buying a new machine does have its perks. You would be getting a warranty, support, training, and a start-up package. However, the downside is buying a new machine will cost you thousands and thousands of dollars.
USED MACHINES:
If you are just starting in the embroidery business, and you want to buy a used machine, IT IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT to buy an embroidery machine which will include all the things you will need such as the things mentioned above. (Training, support, warranty, start-up kits, etc.) Purchase your used embroidery machine from a company that can provide these things (Even if the start-up kits, training and support are a little extra money). When you ask any embroidery business owner, they will emphasize how important and valuable that first exposure is to the embroidery business. It is in many cases the difference between success and failure of the business. And the biggest upside to buying a used machine is all the money you can save as opposed to buying a new machine.

Now that we have discussed some of the factors of new versus used embroidery equipment, let's highlight what is most important in this process. If you decide that a used machine is for you, make sure your buying from a well known, trustworthy source. The term "used" is usually associated with "As is" when buying from an individual. It is best to buy from a company that has the machines serviced by a certified technician, and offers a warranty, training, support, and a start-up package. Your used machine should run almost as if it were brand new.

First is a Used 2001 Tajima TFHXII-C1506. Machine includes: 270 cap driver, tubular sash, flat sash, one set of 270 cap frames, two sets of tubular hoops, removable tables, and built in disc drive.

Second is a Used 2004 Brother BES-1240-BC. Machine includes: Cap tubular, 3 sets of tubular hoops, 1 set of 270 cap frames, removable tables, and built in disc drive.

Machines are in excellent condition and have recently been serviced by a certified Tajima technician!!
